MayLū

MayLū is a brand name for AGAE Technologies' personal and home care products. MayLū brand was created and published in 2017. It means “beautiful green”. It is inspired by the splendor of the United States Pacific Northwest where all our products are thoughtfully formulated and manufactured.

MayLū brand covers personal and home care products formulated by AGAE Technologies, LLC in Corvallis, Oregon, USA. All MayLū products are based on innovative formulations using rhamnolipid (RL) and other green and non-toxic ingredients. These products have been carefully developed using AGAE’s proprietary advanced RL technologies. Under the brand MayLū, AGAE has initiated commercial-scale manufacturing and supply of its RL-formulated personal and home care products. 

Our Story

Our founder Dr. Xihou Yin is an entrepreneur and internationally recognized scientist. His expertise and skills span a broad range of interdisciplinary areas, including microbial fermentation, natural product chemistry, analytical chemistry with a focus on instrumentation, molecular genetics and biochemistry. Yin became very excited the first time he learned about rhamnolipid (RL) over a decade ago. The remarkable benefits for the environment and human use of this simple, natural product were so fascinating, that he set out immediately to find products made with it. To his amazement, he found no RL-containing personal and home care products anywhere in the world. It was at this point he decided he wanted to formulate RL-based personal and home care products himself and introduce them to consumers everywhere.

The first immediate challenge was that there was no supply of RL for use in personal and home care products to be found. It was this realization that led him  to create a company, AGAE Technologies, dedicated to producing this useful and  badly needed natural ingredient. From there, he eventually went on to create a green-product skincare line and home care product line, respectively, under the brand name MayLū, using only premium natural ingredients, including our hero ingredient, rhamnolipid. 

AGAE’s aim is to bring MayLū products to as many people as possible so they can personally experience the advantages of home care products, and the beauty and skin benefits of RL. Finding innovative ways to utilize RL to improve people’s daily lives has been the driving force behind AGAE’s research, development and discoveries. These endeavors have led to unique and practical RL technologies for both production and formulation, including the creation of the MayLū personal and home care product lines.

Behind MayLū

Since it was founded in May 2011, AGAE’s scientific team has worked diligently to develop cost-effective and innovative ways to commercially manufacture and utilize rhamnolipid (RL). Driven by its mission to develop green solutions for human health and environmental problems, AGAE is focused on bringing this extraordinary natural cleansing,  emulsifying, wetting, moisturizing, gentle, kind and mild ingredient to consumer markets in as many ways as possible. AGAE scientists firmly believe RL will eventually replace many of the toxic, petroleum-derived, and/or synthetic ingredients used in numerous everyday applications. AGAE is the US leading manufacturer and supplier of a full spectrum of rhamnolipid products for commercial use, home and personal care, in particular, skincare products.  

More than a decade of persistent effort in research and development ultimately secured for AGAE its complete advanced proprietary set of manufacturing technologies for mass production of rhamnolipids. Following this milestone achievement and a successful initial sales of its MayLū brand rhamnolipid-based personal and home care products at the 2018 Oregon State Fair,
